Official: Budapest airport bus ticket price increases drastically
The Municipal Assembly of Budapest announced changes to the BKK ticket system. They cited the growing challenge of running Budapest’s public transport in the current economic environment. We will have to pay HUF 700 more for a bus ticket to and from the airport. That means an increase of 46.6 percent.
From 1 April, the price of the 100E bus, which runs between Liszt Ferenc Airport and the city centre, will increase from HUF 1500 (EUR 3.93) to HUF 2200 (EUR 5.77). In a statement on the increase, Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) said that this type of ticket accounts for only 4 percent of total ticket revenue.
On top of that, it is predominantly (83 percent in 2019) purchased by foreigners who use the company’s services only occasionally. Therefore, they are less sensitive to the price of the ticket. For a long time, the ticket cost HUF 900 (EUR 2.36), hvg.hu reports. From 1 July last year, it was HUF 1,500.
The Municipal Assembly also decided on another change regarding BKK tickets. The transport company wrote: due to a decrease in demand for the transfer ticket, the short metro section ticket, the seven-day ticket and the supplementary seven-day pass, they will be withdrawn from 1 April and replaced by a new digital product. More on this can be found here.
It was also noted that the Metropolitan Municipality, which decides on fares, will continue to maintain the same prices for the most frequently used tickets and passes as it has done for the past ten years.

Still cheaper than taking a taxi.
Regarding the 7 day ticket it is currently priced at 6500 forints. The 14 day ticket is priced at 6300. Why would anyone buy the 7 day when the 15 day is cheaper.
No wonder its use is declining.
